DESCRIPTION:DSCT Members Social Meeting – Talks for 2023\nThe Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust invites a guest speaker to present to the Trust on a topic of interest. From experience they are usually very engaging and interesting (at least for those that enjoy Canals\, History\, Engineering\, Nature\, and all things in between). \nIn 2023\, this meeting will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings will continue to be held at the First Floor\, Canal Cottages\, Draycott DE72 3PE \nOur first tranche of speakers/events are summarised below:\nTues 24th January – Michael Thacker – “Railways in World War 1” \nTues 28th February –  Clare Howard – “The Derby Canal and Gangway in Little Eaton“ \nTues 28th March – David Jennings – “The Derby Canal in Derby” \nTues 25th April –  “Bennerley Viaduct – Restoration and into the Future” \nTues 23rd May – Rod Auton – “Update from Chesterfield Canal Trust” \nTues 27th June –  “A talk on Sandiacre Lock Cottages” \nTues 25th July –  Bill Hutchinson –  “Finding the Derby Canal in Little Eaton” – Member’s Walk – Meeting at the New Inn\, Little Eaton @ 7pm \nThe September meeting is currently intended as the AGM for 2023.  \nThere will be no meeting in August or December. \n  \nTo help pay for the speakers\, a small fee is paid on the door: \nMembers: £2 \nNon-Members: £3 \nWhat to join in? – Become a member today!

DESCRIPTION:Support the Derby & Sandiacre Trust Working Parties!\nWe’re trying a different working parties calendar format to what we’ve done in the past. We found that due to weather conditions\, changes of availability (or just bad luck!)  we had to change some of our working parties\, and the website calendar struggled to keep up – plus\, there was not an effective way of keeping everyone updated. \nThe Calendar entry is now generic and contains useful information that covers the potential activities being performed (see below). \nIf you want to know what’s specifically happening each week – email info@derbycanal.org.uk and get added to our working party mailing list!\nThis will be the best way to keep up to speed with any changes in planning due to weather or other circumstances. \n  \nGeneral Information\nActivities are typically started at 9.30am and run to around 1pm (about the time when volunteers fancy a trip to the pub typically!) \nThe activities on offer vary regularly and based on the season; but in general could consistent of: \n\nHelping with Lock restoration (Sandiacre / Borrowash).\nHelping with Canal Cottages restoration (Draycott).\nClearing or maintaining vegetation (potentially including bonfires as appropriate).\nPlanting new trees or vegetation.\nOther activities related to the above at each location.\n\nContact: info@derbycanal.org.uk\nHS&E requirements:\nSturdy Boots and gloves are recommended for working outside\, as well as clothing sensible to the conditions. SUMMARY:Trustee Board Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Trustee Board Meeting\nThe role of the Trustee Board is to oversee the operation of the Trust and ensure the Directors operate within legal constraints\, including those of the Charities Commission\, and to ensure the assets of the Trust generated through fundraising are safeguarded. It is the role of Trustees to maintain and keep up to date the Trust’s objectives\, aims and mission. \nMeeting quarterly\, the Trustee Board works in order to ensure the Trust operates in a responsible way and recognises the various community interests key stakeholders are recognised and have the right to nominate two Trustees. These organisations are Derby City Council\, Erewash Borough Council\, South Derbyshire District Council\, Derbyshire County Council and the Inland Waterways Association (the organisation responsible for championing canal preservation and restoration). \nstarting at 7.30pm via Teams and by invite only. DESCRIPTION:DSCT Members Social Meeting – Talks for 2023\nThe Derby & Sandiacre Canal Trust invites a guest speaker to present to the Trust on a topic of interest. From experience they are usually very engaging and interesting (at least for those that enjoy Canals\, History\, Engineering\, Nature\, and all things in between). \nIn 2023\, this meeting will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings will continue to be held at the First Floor\, Canal Cottages\, Draycott DE72 3PE \nOur first tranche of speakers/events are summarised below:\nTues 24th January – Michael Thacker – “Railways in World War 1” \nTues 28th February –  Clare Howard – “The Derby Canal and Gangway in Little Eaton“ \nTues 28th March – David Jennings – “The Derby Canal in Derby” \nTues 25th April –  “Bennerley Viaduct – Restoration and into the Future” \nTues 23rd May – Rod Auton – “Update from Chesterfield Canal Trust” \nTues 27th June –  “A talk on Sandiacre Lock Cottages” \nTues 25th July –  Bill Hutchinson –  “Finding the Derby Canal in Little Eaton” – Member’s Walk – Meeting at the New Inn\, Little Eaton @ 7pm \nThe September meeting is currently intended as the AGM for 2023.  \nThere will be no meeting in August or December. \n  \nTo help pay for the speakers\, a small fee is paid on the door: \nMembers: £2 \nNon-Members: £3 \nWhat to join in? – Become a member today!

DESCRIPTION:Support the Derby & Sandiacre Trust Working Parties!\nWe’re trying a different working parties calendar format to what we’ve done in the past. We found that due to weather conditions\, changes of availability (or just bad luck!)  we had to change some of our working parties\, and the website calendar struggled to keep up – plus\, there was not an effective way of keeping everyone updated. \nThe Calendar entry is now generic and contains useful information that covers the potential activities being performed (see below). \nIf you want to know what’s specifically happening each week – email info@derbycanal.org.uk and get added to our working party mailing list!\nThis will be the best way to keep up to speed with any changes in planning due to weather or other circumstances. \n  \nGeneral Information\nActivities are typically started at 9.30am and run to around 1pm (about the time when volunteers fancy a trip to the pub typically!) \nThe activities on offer vary regularly and based on the season; but in general could consistent of: \n\nHelping with Lock restoration (Sandiacre / Borrowash).\nHelping with Canal Cottages restoration (Draycott).\nClearing or maintaining vegetation (potentially including bonfires as appropriate).\nPlanting new trees or vegetation.\nOther activities related to the above at each location.\n\nContact: info@derbycanal.org.uk\nHS&E requirements:\nSturdy Boots and gloves are recommended for working outside\, as well as clothing sensible to the conditions. For Draycott\, as it’s an active building site it would be appreciated if you could bring any of your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that would be suitable; we do have some limited supplies.
